LoafLab

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 April 2026

Summary

Your recipes, schedules, bake logs, and photos stay on your device. There are no user accounts and no servers storing your personal data. LoafLab uses a single EU-based analytics tool (PostHog) to understand which features are used so we can improve the app. No personal data, recipes, photos, or bake content is ever sent. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Privacy.

Data stored on your device

LoafLab stores the following on your phone using the operating system's secure local storage:

  • Recipes you create
  • Schedules and bake plans
  • Bake logs, including notes, ratings, and photos you attach
  • Starter information you enter
  • App preferences such as units, theme, and sleep hours

None of this is transmitted off your device. You can remove all of it by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in iOS settings.

Photos and camera

LoafLab asks for access to your camera and photo library so you can attach a photo to a bake log. Photos you choose are stored only in your bake logs on-device. LoafLab does not upload them anywhere.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, LoafLab schedules step reminders locally on your device. No device tokens or personal data are sent to any server for this to work.

Analytics

LoafLab uses PostHog, hosted in the EU at eu.posthog.com, to capture anonymous usage events so we know which features help and which don't. Examples of what we track:

  • Onboarding completion
  • Recipe, schedule, and bake log actions (save, delete, edit)
  • Bake step edits during an active bake
  • Which settings are changed (the key only, never the value)
  • Whether the rating prompt was shown or dismissed

What we explicitly do not send: your name, email, recipes, notes, photos, step names, log contents, precise timestamps, or IP address. Events are tied to an anonymous device identifier only.

You can opt out in Settings → Privacy. When analytics is off, no events are sent from your device.

Third-party services

LoafLab uses Expo Updates to deliver over-the-air app updates. When the app checks for an update, Expo receives basic device information such as your runtime version and update channel. No personal data or bake data is transmitted. See Expo's privacy policy at expo.dev/privacy for details.

Data retention

All LoafLab data is local to your device and remains there until you delete it or uninstall the app. We have no copy and cannot recover deleted data.

Children

LoafLab is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
